Description
This is a version of my Simpleasels meant specifically for fiber based (FB) papers. It adds corner hold-down tabs to help keep fiber paper flat to make it easier to place the top down and clip it down. Though it works with resin-coated (RC) papers as well, the tabs do make it slightly slower for those papers since the tabs aren’t necessary as RC papers generally lay down flat. If you only plan on printing with RC papers, consider the normal Simpleasels. If you plan on using FB paper (whether or not you also plan to use RC paper), consider this version. Note that the easel tops work with both types of bases.
To use, simply place the easel base on your enlarger baseboard as you would any other easel. Place the print down, emulsion side up of course making sure it’s inside the recessed area and underneath the tabs. It’s easiest I find to place the paper under the top tabs first and then “roll” the paper under the bottom tabs. This is pretty quick to do with just a bit of practice. Then place the top on top of the print making sure the inlay sits in the recessed area. It is recommended to use the included clips to clip the top down to the easel as well. Then make an exposure! To remove the paper, place your finder under the cutout/notch on the base and lift up on the top. Then place your finger on the notch all the way in to touch the edge of the paper and lift up.
This is designed by me and are printed on demand using Atomic PLA with my Voron 3D printers. It should bring you years of reliable use when using it for its intended purpose and storing it appropriately (namely don’t store it in super hot spaces, like an attic).
