Thanks for purchasing a Pen-F cold shoe mount! This comes in two flavors. One is for the original Olympus Pen-F and the other is for the FV and FT variants. The FV/FT version has a notch cut of the from for the additional knob (though it will work on the original Pen-F too).
To use, place the shoe onto the camera. The thin “bars” along the back fit into the grooves in the viewfinder window. Push down until it is fully seated. You may feel friction from the gaffer tape. This is by design to help the shoe grip the camera better to prevent it from falling off. Then place your light meter or accessory through the shoe mount from the back.
Finally, push one of the plastic tabs into the back up against the shoe of your accessory. There are two tabs included. One is slightly smaller than the other and can be used for lightweight accessories. The larger one fits more snugly and can be useful for bigger accessories.
Note that the Pen-F cold shoe mount has only been field tested with lightweight lightmeters (such as the Reveni Labs and Lime 2). It should work with many accessories, but be mindful if using something heavy given that the shoe mount friction-fits to the camera.
Of course, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to us as we would be happy to help! Enjoy half-framing!
